PVC TECHNICAL TCE

 PVC

1. Adapter

  • Description:
A fitting used to connect PVC pipes to threaded components, such as valves or pumps. It has one solvent-weld (glue) end and one threaded end (male or female).

  • Types:

    • Male Adapter: One end is glued, the other has external threads

    • Female Adapter: One end is glued, the other has internal threads

  • Use:

    • Connecting PVC pipe to metal or plastic threaded fittings (valves, pumps, filters)

  • Example:

Connects a PVC pipe to a threaded pressure regulator.

2. Tee

  • Description:
A T-shaped fitting used to split the flow of water into two directions. It has three outlets at 90° angles (two on the sides, one at the center).

  • Types:

    • Equal Tee: All three ends are the same size

    • Reducing Tee: Center or side outlet is smaller

  • Use:

    • Branching off a main irrigation line

    • Creating distribution networks in the field

  • Example:

Used to split water flow from the mainline into two lateral pipes.

3. Solvent Weld Coupling (Straight Coupling / Socket)

  • Description:
A straight connector used to join two PVC pipes of the same diameter in a straight line using solvent cement (glue).

  • Use:

    • Extending pipe length

    • Repairing a cut section of pipe

  • Types:

    • Standard Coupling: Regular size

    • Slip Coupling: Longer, allows pipe insertion on both ends

  • Example:

Used to connect two 50 mm pipes in a buried irrigation line.

4. Elbow (90° or 45° )

  • Description:
A fitting used to change the direction of the pipeline (usually 90 degrees or 45 degrees).

  • Use:

    • Bending pipe around corners or obstacles

  • Example:

90° elbow used to route pipe along a greenhouse wall.

5. End Cap

  • Description:
A cap used to close the end of a PVC pipe.

  • Use:

    • Sealing the end of a pipe line (permanent or temporary)

6. Reducer / Reducing Coupling

  • Description:
A fitting that connects two pipes of different diameters, reducing the flow size.

  • Use:

    • Connecting a larger mainline to a smaller lateral pipe

📌 Notes for Installation:

  • Always clean pipe and fitting before applying PVC solvent cement

  • Wait for curing time (usually 15–30 minutes before handling; 24 hours before pressure testing)

  • Use Teflon tape for threaded adapters to ensure leak-proof seals
